Empty GTA 6 boxes appear before launch
Physical PS5 copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 are already showing up in stores, but the boxes only contain a download code and no disc.
AI-generated summary based on reporting by Kotaku.
Physical copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 for PlayStation 5 are already appearing ahead of the game’s release. Photos of a shrink-wrapped box reportedly posted by a German retail worker showed the standard case design, along with a clear warning that there is no disc inside.
Instead of a physical game disc, the box appears to include a code for a digital download. It also says an internet connection is needed to redeem that code. The post was later deleted, along with the user’s Reddit account.
The game is set to preload on November 10, and physical copies are expected to be distributed starting November 12 for preorders. That means some buyers may take home the box a full week before GTA 6 goes live on North American servers. The move also reflects Take-Two’s choice to skip a disc release.
