Pitchfork spotlights new albums from Shygirl, Lil Baby

Pitchfork’s weekly new-music roundup is back with a fresh batch of albums now on streaming services. This week’s list includes releases from Twisted Teens, Bassvictim, Shygirl, Lil Baby, Sufjan Stevens, Skepta, Daine, Oso Oso, Sam Gendel, and Untitled (halo).

Twisted Teens’ The Holy Cross Tigers blends garage rock, country, and folk. Bassvictim’s Peace + War leans into messy electroclash, while Shygirl’s Swallow! mixes club music with dream-pop influences.

Lil Baby’s Fresh reaches for a poppier sound and includes a first collaboration with Pharrell, with Future, Young Thug, and Rylo Rodriguez also appearing. Sufjan Stevens’ Worst Christmas Ever! pulls together holiday favorites and adds a new original song.

The roundup also notes Skepta’s first full-length solo album since 2019, Daine’s debut studio release, Oso Oso’s new emo-pop record, Sam Gendel’s rap-leaning left turn, and Untitled (halo)’s debut album from Los Angeles’ DIY scene.
