Elon Musk and other MAGA figures are posting Anakin Skywalker memes as the 2026 midterms near, drawing mockery for linking a Star Wars villain to their politics.

Some MAGA-linked accounts are leaning hard into Star Wars villain imagery, especially Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, as the 2026 midterms get closer. The trend has shown up in memes, posts, and even official political circles.
Elon Musk shared AI-made images of Anakin as if he had never been defeated on Mustafar, writing, “This is what they stole from us.” The post drew backlash online, with one reply calling him “Hitler.”
The meme has also spread beyond Musk. Katie Miller, wife of Stephen Miller, posted, “Find the Anakin in your life,” on Halloween. The Department of Education also briefly used a related “Malfoid” meme before switching to an Anakin version.
The big idea behind the posts is to frame Anakin as a symbol for disaffected young men, even though the character becomes Darth Vader, an authoritarian enforcer who murders children and helps terrorize the galaxy.
